Motorola has announced the launch of a new Android smartphone for China, the Motorola MOTOSMART MIX XT550, which is designed for music lovers and features a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display.

The Motorola MOTOSMART MIX XT550 comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the device features two camera, up front there is a VGA camera for video chat, on the back there is a 3 megapixel camera for photos and video.

Other specifications on the Motorola MOTOSMART MIX XT550 include a 1,735 mAH battery, WiFi and 3G, it also comes with Dolby Mobile sound and it will launch in China later this month.

Motorola XOOM WiFi To Get New Update Soon

According to reports online, it looks like the Motorola XOOM WiFi Android tablet will be receiving an update soon. Some testers have started receiving emails about a new update on the way. There was no mention of what the update will be (we’re pretty sure it’s not Jelly Bean) so it should be the usual host of bug fixes and perhaps some enhancements to the operating system; but all shall be revealed in due time. If all goes well with the testing, we should see the update being pushed out to the public not long after. Any readers here part of the Motorola XOOM testing group?

Motorola announces MOTOACTV Golf Edition for golf enthusiasts

Golf enthusiasts who are looking to bring their game to the next level might be interested in taking a look at the Motorola MOTOACTV Golf Edition, a joint effort between Motorola and three-time PGA Tour winner, Bubba Watson, with the device being touted as a “cutting-edge GPS tracker, virtual caddy and online clubhouse”. So, what is so different about the Golf Edition compared to the standard MOTOACTV?

Well for starters the Golf Edition features 20,000 golf courses available in its database, and will allow players to check the distance to the front, center and back of greens, as well as the distance to hazards which can sometimes be read in negative numbers. It will also help track your score, with the “online clubhouse” feature allowing the wearer to sync the data to Motorola’s MOTOACTV service, thus giving them a satellite view of the course played and where your shots went.

Interested golfers who wish to gain an edge over the competition will be pleased to learn that they will be able to pre-order the MOTOACTV Golf Edition from Amazon for $299.99, with the device expected to start shipping on the 1st of April.

 

Motorola giving away special edition Droid RAZR MAXX for the Oscars

So we know that Verizon is prepping a limited edition Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX for their employees, but it looks like a special edition of the Droid RAZR MAXX will also be given away to some Oscar Award attendees and some of the presenters, and will be given in the gift basket as pictured above.

The special edition handset will come with a gold sequined pouch, a Motorola ELITE SILVER Bluetooth headset and it appears to have been given a fresh coat of paint in the color red. Now the good news is that unlike the Verizon special edition Droid RAZR MAXX, the red carpet special edition will be available for regular folks like you and I. It seems that all you’d have to do is simply retweet #RedCarpetRAZR and you could be one of the lucky five winners to walk away with the special edition handset.

Motorola Defy+ JCB Edition Android Smartphone Announced

Motorola has launched a new version of their Defy+ smartphone, the Motorola Defy+ JCB edition, and as the name suggest Motorola has teamed up JCB to make a more rugged version of the smartphone.

The Motorola Def+ JCB edition shares many of the features of the original handset, although this new version now comes with a rugged casing and it is also waterproof , dust proof and shock like the previous model.

This new Defy+ JCB edition Android smartphone also comes with a range of JCB applications pre-loaded which are designed for construction workers and DIY enthusiasts with functions like a spirit level, theodolite, decibel meter and recorder, torch, unit converter, calculator and DIY store locator.

Hardware wise the Motorola Defy+ JCB edition features a 3.7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, the screen is covered in Gorilla Glass.

Processing is provided by a single core 1GHz processor and it also features a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and auto-focus, there is 2GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card slot.

The Motorola Defy+ JCB edition will be available in the UK shortly, it is expected to retail for around £260, and it doesnt look like it is headed to the US, there are no details on whether or not it will be available in the rest of Europe.

Motorola Starts Pre-Orders For Wi-Fi Xyboard

Itching to get your hands on Motorola’s Xyboard? The Wi-Fi-only version is now available for pre-orders for those in the US.

An 8.2 progress mold costs $400 and $500 for the 16GB and 32GB versions, respectively. The 10.1 type module set you back $500 and $600 for the 16GB and 32GB versions.

The prices on all models are around $200 less than what Verizon gift be charging if you instrument get the LTE variation. Exploit the Wi-fi only writing also effectuation you don’t get that Droid branding launch on Verizon’s units.

Xyboard comes with an IPS display at 1280×800, 5MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.3 MP front-facing camera and powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.

Motorola RAZR Lands In The UK Tomorrow

The Motorola RAZR was due to go on sale SIM free in the UK last week, it looks like it may have been delayed and it should be available in the UK from tomorrow the 8th of November.

The Motorola Razr comes with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED qHD display that features a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, processing is provided by a dual core 1.2GHz processor and there is also an 8 megapixel camera which can record full HD video in 1080p.

The RAZR also comes with a HD video camera for video chat on the front, and it comes with 32GB of storage, 16GB built in and 16GB via the microSD card slot.

The SIM free version of the Motorola RAZR will be available for £455 including taxes from Clove.

Motorola outs SF-series runner-ready headsets

Motorola will launch three new headsets that are part of the Motorola SF series. Dubbed as the Motorola SF200, SF500 and SF700, these headsets are compatible with most smartphones for audio listening and many phone fitness apps.

The SF200 is a wired stereo smartphone headset that features a pair of 13mm dynamic drivers with an improved bass response. The SF500 comes equipped with a heart-rate monitor. This headset works in conjunction with a fitness app on your smartphones. And finally, the SF700 is a wireless headset that supports the Apt-X wireless technology. This technology enables wired-quality audio over Bluetooth connectivity. The Motorola SF200, SF500 and SF700 will be launched on November 6, 2011 for $49.99, $99.99 and $149.99, respectively. Motorolo MOTOACTV takes on iPod nano

Motorola has unveiled its own interpretation of the smartwatch PMP, the MOTOACTV, a 1.6-inch touchscreen Android gadget that packs GPS and up to 4,000 of your songs. Intended to track your fitness in a similar way to Nike+, the MOTOACTV is sweat resistant and includes both an FM radio and an integrated audio coach that tells you how fast you’re going and how far you’ve run.

Meanwhile a companion site, MOTOACTV.com, allows you to plan you route and then monitor your performance over time, setting goals and challenging your friends to beat them. It’s intended to work with Motorola’s SF700 and SF500 wireless Bluetooth headphones, which also include heart-rate monitors to feed info to the MOTOACTV itself.

Battery life is up to five hours of outdoor workouts, up to ten hours of indoor workouts, or nearly two weeks of standby. There’s both Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+ connectivity, all in something 46 x 46 x 9.6 mm and 35g. An FM radio is also integrated.

Unfortunately, all this wrist-borne fitness doesn’t come cheap. Motorola has two versions of the MOTOACTV in the pipeline, priced at $249 for the 8GB version and $299 for the 16GB version. They’ll both go on sale in the US on November 6, with European availability in Q1 2012.
